2015_03_17-WSJ-A-Guide-to-Not-Retiring Our Comment by J. David Lewis – In early February, I talked with Ann Tergesen of The Wall Street Journal about an article she was beginning to research. An article that seems to be the result of her work has appeared. Although I was not quoted directly, I must say it is an excellent article. It really touches at the heart of the ways I feel about my own retirement. One of the great mysteries in my life is not knowing when I will want to stop work. For now, I will be content saying “I decided to come to work this morning. We will see what I decide tomorrow morning.” Here are a couple of quotes from Ms. Tergesen:

“Some people nearing retirement age simply don’t want to leave their jobs. But defying expectations can be difficult—in the office and at home.”

“To turn the old saying on its head: What if you find yourself on your deathbed and really do wish you had spent more time at the office?”
